With software, computers and telecommunication gadgets evolving by the minute (or so it seems), technical communication is an essential aspect of the Information Technology industry. Let's look at Technical Writing for example; I am sure that most will agree that this field is dominate in this industry.
However, I would like you to consider Technical Communication in the Engineering industry. I have a background in Industrial Engineering and I am currently a Technical Writer for an engineering services firm. It is through my experiences that bridging Engineering and Technical Communication is crucial to the success of project execution. Engineers are responsible to create or improve a process using design, math and science; but once this creation or improvement takes place, it has to be communicated to an audience just like it does within the IT industry.
My intent is to broaden the views of Technical Communication to show how it applies within the Engineering industry. I will provide insight on my work history, and shed light on organizations that have fully realized the importance of combining Engineering with Technical Communication.
